November Birthdays

Here are a couple of cakes I did this month. The first was for my husband (who is the cutest superhero geek out there-hence superman cake). The second was for a friend of mine, who also happens to make custom cakes.

Oh La La Cake

I not only had the honor of making this beautiful couple's wedding cake, but I was also in charge of their cake buffet. In my first post I talked about a darling sister who helped me get started in this whole "cake thing"... well here she is. The two of us created this wedding cake for our brother and his lovely fiance for their wedding July 20th 2010.

Better late than never...

Have you ever felt like something so obvious was just staring you in the face, but you were too blind to notice it? Well, I finally noticed it. My name is Laura, and I’m one of the many who have struggled to figure out what to do with my life. I’ve had a smattering of jobs (some I’ve loved, and some I’ve hated) but it hasn’t been until recently that I’ve found my passion, my “joie de vivre”. With the help of my darling sister (Stacey), I found the “thing” that has been staring me in the face. I found that “thing” that consumes my dreams both night and day.

Until now, it had never occurred to me to attempt baking as a profession. But now I breathe and eat (literally) all things baked. I’m fully aware of the incredible talent and competition the cake industry contains (thanks to the reality TV shows: a.k.a. Cake Boss and Ace of Cakes)… but I’m here to share my creations, my journey... and all it’s sugary adventures.
